Echoes of the Night
In ECHOES OF THE NIGHT, flutist Pia Marei Hauser enters into a dialogue with darkness and with her own instrument. Pieces for solo flute from the 20th and 21st centuries take the audience on a journey through the night - at times mysterious and shadowy, at others dreamlike and full of longing.
Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s words - “I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day” - extended techniques fill the space with unexpected sounds and present the flute in entirely new ways. Using different flutes, pre-recorded sounds, and live electronics - for example when the instrument is multiplied through a loop station - a rich palette of sonic colors emerges, inviting the audience to create their own nocturnal landscapes.
Im Programm NACHTKLÄNGE tritt die Flötistin Pia Marei Hauser in einen Dialog mit der Dunkelheit und mit ihrem eigenen Instrument. Werke für Soloflöte aus dem 20. und 21. Jahrhundert nehmen das Publikum mit auf eine Reise in die Nacht – mal geheimnisvoll und düster, mal träumerisch und voller Sehnsucht.
Unter dem Motto Vincent van Goghs – „Ich denke oft, dass die Nacht lebendiger und bunter ist als der Tag“ – füllen ungewohnte Spieltechniken den Raum mit ungeahnten Klängen und inszenieren das klassische Instrument auf neue Weise. Mit unterschiedlichen Flöten, Zuspiel und Live-Elektronik - etwa wenn sich das Instrument mithilfe einer Loop-Station selbst vervielfacht - entstehen Klangfarben, die das Publikum einladen, sich seine eigenen Nachtszenen zu malen.
