Founded in 2013, the Ensemble CRUSH is dedicated to contemporary music and performance. The internationally represented members expand the classical line-up of Pierrot Lunaire, flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano, with accordion and live electronics. Their repertoire includes established works of 20th and 21st century music, such as Grisey, Cage and Stockhausen, but their focus is on collaboration with contemporary composers. They realize this dedication in their ‘musical home in the Ruhr area, e.g. as "ensemble in residence" of Duisburg's EarPort and also internationally, for example 2017 in the project "Composing CRUSH" of the Bulgarian National Radio or 2019 with “Concerto con Spasso” in Russe. Fort the ensemble, unconventional programming is of particular interest, which can be applied to a wide range of different ways by widening classical stage situations, using light and (live) electronics, non-musical sound generators and scenic performance.
