Pia Marei Hauser - Flutist

"Music is the language of passion" – according to these words of Richard Wagner, Pia Marei Hauser has dedicated herself to music and especially to the flute since childhood.

She studied in Germany and France, specializing in Romantic, as well as Contemporary music and performance. Her studies Ied her to the Musikhochschule Münster (Konrad Hünteler and Christina Fassbender), to the Conservatoires de Musique in Montpellier (Jean-Loup Gregoire) and Strasbourg (Sandrine Franҫois) and finally to the Folkwang University of the Arts (Gunhild Ott and Günter Steinke).

She attended master classes with Michael Faust and Felix Renggli, among others, and took part in the international Summer Academy for Early Music in Benrath castle, Düsseldorf, thanks to a scholarship from the foundation Düsseldorf Court Music and Benrath castle.

As an ambassador for contemporary music, she regularly works together with composers, performed premiers of new works and has performed on the international stage as a soloist and in various ensembles, especially with “Ensemble CRUSH” from Duisburg at contemporary music festivals and concerts. Amongst others she has been invited to play in the “NOW-Festival” of the Philharmonics in Essen, the „Chamber Music Festival Agitato“ of the Bulgarian National Radio in Sofia and the „Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival“ in South Korea.

Her performance of Edison Denisov's flute sonata in Ruse, Bulgaria, in 2019 was broadcast by the BNR and the SFR. In 2021, she was part of the music theater production "Transfleisch" by the DLF.

In her solo flute repertoire she has pieces of various eras and styles, which she compiles into thematic programs to highlight different soundscapes of her instrument.

As a former scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now" she played several chamber music concerts and is currently pursuing ambitious projects, for example in the areas of performance concerts, live-music for silent film and Tango Argentino. With her colleague Karin Nakayama she won the second prize of the international music video competition "corona encore - coffee mask" as Duo CRUSH in 2021.

In addition to her artistic work, Pia Marei Hauser teaches at the Universities of Music in Münster and Osnabrück and gives flute lessons on request.
